Chances are that from
wherever you live right now you are going to need to fly to Spain. Of
course if you live in some country in Europe close enough to Spain you
could still consider the train option or even the bus option. But plane
tickets are so much cheaper nowadays that you’re probably better
off buying a flight to Spain and shortening the time of traveling by more
than half. Once you’re in Spain, enjoy!! ;-) That’s when the
trip actually starts!
I put together information about airlines that travel to Spain frequently
and also some websites that will give you good deals on flights. Remember
that purchasing the tickets a couple of months in advance (6 to 2 months
before) will make a difference in your price. As the date approaches you
might come across difficulties to find the good deal that you wanted and
maybe even seats on a flight! If you are traveling with somebody it’s
even more important, unless you don’t mind traveling in row 25 while
your partner is in row 14! This is especially tough when it’s a
long flight!
Check out some of the options I found useful when trying to find my flights
to Spain (I have some experience on this as I travel to Spain at least
once or twice a year!) I put the airlines in my order of preference, in
case you find it useful. British Airways has been the best for me by far,
at least when traveling overseas. They have really comfortable airplanes,
nice meals, T.V. screens for everybody and easy connections. Of course
the experience will always be slightly different, but they are my favorite.
You might want to take into account, though, that flights to and from
the U.K. are now going under serious security measures, so it might be
a while before people are allowed again to travel with certain things
as carry on luggage (no cell phones, no GameBoys, no laptops, etc). Delta
and United are pretty good airlines too and their carry on rules are less
strict when they don't travel through the U.K. I feel bad leaving Iberia
at the end of the list, as I’m from Spain myself, but they have
older planes and sometimes they don’t let people use electronics,
which is difficult to stand in a long flight! Good luck with whatever
you choose! Have a happy flight!
